Things that shouldn’t be done in the society

INTRODUCTION
Life is the most precious gift given to man. And over the years man has proved beyond every reasonable doubt that all his action and developments are geared towards the preservation of nature’s best gift, which is life .This is vividly seen in the rate at which people take adequate care of themselves and their loved ones in trying to carry out the foremost task of life preservation . This also is seen in how humans try so hard to preserve the life of a dying patient. A terminally ill person would like at least if his life is not able to be preserved, to die peacefully.

The cost of maintaining a dying person has been estimated as ranging from about two thousand to ten thousand dollars a month (Dworking187).
The irony of life comes into play when despite all the rigorous measures taken to preserve life, some people still indulge in intentionally taking away of their lives. Either as an escape route of escaping from reality or as a way of fulfilling some religious or political obligation as seen in the suicide bombers
(BOKO Haran, ISIS etc).

.1 Definition:- Suicide is the act of intentional causing one’s own death. This act is as old as man himself. And the most commonly used methods of suicide varies between countries and is partly related to the availability and accessibility of effective lethal means.
In another term it means killing of oneself on purpose or dying at your own hands. The word suicide breaks down into the ancient latin words “sui” and “ceadere” which together translates as to “kill oneself”.
Suicidal Indicators
Having already established the fact that no sane person would to resort killing himself .Yet there are signs which can help us decipher a person with suicidal tendencies. These indicators varies from, cause and method of suicide. A person who intends hanging himself wouldn’t exhibit the same signs as someone who out of substance abuse slain himself. Also a person who intends taking his life as a result of great loss or shame would also vary in sign he exhibited from the person who does so out of great necessity example avoiding being held captive in a battle as seen in Saul (ISam31:3-6) as seen in Publius

Withdrawal
Choosing to be alone always and avoiding friends or social activities are also possible symptoms of depression, a leading cause of suicide. This includes a loss of interest and pleasure in activities the person previously enjoyed. This is evident in the fact that majority of the suicide acts are perpetuated in a lone place so as to avoid intervention. a person contemplating suicide tends to isolate himself from others maybe owing to the fact that he sees no reason to live anymore.

Changes In Appearance
A person that is having suicidal thoughts or idea actions tends to be pre- occupied with the crisis of life that he might exhibit a change in attitude and behavior such as speaking or moving with unusual speed and slowness. Always talking about getting unfavorable situation. In addition, the person might suddenly
become less concerned about his appearance or health.
This is evident Anton Lyndon Patterson, the perpetrators of the October 2015
“Trollhattan school attack” in Sweden. He wrote a message to his friend saying that he would attack people around him and killed. He was spotted haggard and unkempt moving with unusual speed and carelessness.
2.3 Threatening Or Talking About Suicide
Research has shown that 50% to 75% of those considering suicide will give someone either a friend or a relative a hint of what he is about to do. The point now lies if the person that was hinted was able to grab the message and make adequate intervention. However not everyone who threatens suicide will follow through with it.
Just as in June, 2015 Trepierre Hummons a know gangster posted on Facebook his intention of committing suicide by a cop. He called the Police and faked to report. Some armed Police men arrived at the scene, subsequently opened fire with them and got killed along the line.

RELATIONSHIP BREAKDOWN
Relationship breakdown constitutes a major factor for suicide ideation and completion among youths. Although it cannot be proved with reasonable fact about the gender that is more prone to this factor, several studies have identified that there is an elevated risk factor in man than in woman following divorce or separation.
The end of a relationship is usually initiated by one partner regardless of the feelings of the other. It is important to note that it is not just love that makes a deserted partner to develop suicidal thoughts or ideations, but it goes a long way into self esteem and worth. Separation often makes the left partner feel unwanted, unsafe and paranoid. Then with the passage of time, depression which triggers off suicidal ideation gradually begins to creep in. and once depression comes, then thoughts of suicide comes along with it, which may lead to suicide completion.

POVERTY

A situation where one is extremely poor and unable to fend for himself and his family. And also a scenario when one is unable secure a job which would be his means of earning a living. Poverty itself has a wide and different connotation to different people. But the similarity lies in the fact that it is still the lack of essential things needed for a good living. Now let’s consider a suicide note of Kelvin Carter. He was a South Africa photographer. A recipient of Pulitzer Prize for his photograph depicting the 1993 famine in Sudan. He killed himself at the age of 33 due to poverty and loss of fortune

“I’m really, really sorry. The
pain of life overrides the joy to the point that joy
Does not exist… depressed … without
Phone … Money for rent…
Money for child support… money
for debt… Money!!!
I am haunted by the vivid
Memories of killing and corpse
And anger and pain…. of starving
Or wounded children, of trigger
Happy madman,
often police of killer executioners …
I have gone to join ken if I am that lucky”.

METHODS OR WAYS OF SUICIDE
A suicide method is any means by which a person completes suicide, purposely ending his life. People who in the past have attempted suicide and by any means of imagination survived may experience serious injuries such as broken bones or brain injury. And those people not only that they are at the risk of committing suicide again, they may be faced with a long term injury which will have serious negative effects on their health. It is also good to note that the method of suicide varies between countries because of the accessibility of some lethal materials.
FIREARMS:
Suicide attempt through fire arms always result to 90% death. This is due to the fact that the bullet will be at a point blank range or the most vulnerable part of the body often the temple, chin, chest (or less commonly) into the mouth. The prevalence of fire arm in suicide worldwide varies widely depending on the acceptance and availability of firearms in a culture. This method of suicide is usually common in high income countries where like USA and Australia where it accounts up to 50% and 10% of suicide rate respectively.
Surviving a self inflicted gunshot may result in severe pain for the patient as well as reduced cognitive abilities and mobility function.
SUICIDE ATTACK
A suicide attack is an attack in which the attacker (attacker being either an individual or a group) intends to kill others and die in the process of doing so. In a suicide attack in the strictest sense, the attacker dies by the attack itself. For example in an explosion or crash caused by the attacker. The attacker is almost sure to die by the defense or retaliation of the attacked party. Example “suicide by cop” that is assuredly an armed police man with a weapon with the aim of being killed by them.
Such attack are typically motivated by religious or political ideologies and have been carried out using numerous method for exam[le attackers might attach explosives directly to their bodies before detonating themselves close to their target, also known as suicide bombing.
HANGING
This is undoubtedly one of the oldest methods of suicide. And it is usually common in rural places than in urban places and also in places where other materials are not readily available, like in the prison. It involved using a rope to make a noose round the throat with the opposite end secured some features depending on the placement of the noose and other factors, the subject strangles or suffers a broken neck. In the vent deal the cause often homes depends on the length of the drop; that is, the distance the subject falls before the rope goes taut. This subject often approach this act dressed in the full attire.

CCTV Surveillance
This is an effective method to reduce rail way related suicide. The cameras are made to cover where suicides frequently occur, often with direct link to the nearest police station or surveillance companies. This enables the police to be on the scene within minutes after the trespassing was noted. Police access to these tracks are curbed by erecting fence.
Reducing access to gun run laws
Reducing access to gun by civilians decreases the risk of suicide by firearms. The laws regulating the use, purchase and trading of firearms are varied between countries . Some countries have the least laws regulating gun use and purchase. Whereas other countries completely banned the use and carrying of gun, either open of concealed with or without permit. Example in 1976 Columbia banned the possession, sale, transfer or purchase of either hand gun or long gun by civilians. And since then suicide by firearms has reduced by 23%.
